Permission Requests

The AJCC may grant permission for use of copyrighted material from the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual to outside individuals and organizations at its own discretion.  No changes in, additions to, or deletions from the copied or reused material should be made without prior written approval of the AJCC.  Permission applies only to the material and use specified in correspondence.  New requests should be made for subsequent use or for other uses of material. 

To request permission to photocopy, duplicate, republish, or otherwise reuse AJCC material, identify the edition in which the material to be reproduced appears, and follow the appropriate instructions below:

AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, Sixth Edition

To request permission to use material from the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, Sixth Edition, please contact the publisher, Springer, directly. Go to www.cancerstaging.net and complete the permission request form.

AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, First through Fifth Editions

Permission requests for material from the First through Fifth editions should be directed to the AJCC at ajcc@facs.org.  Of note, the TNM classification and stage groupings may only be reproduced, NOT modified. This material may only be reproduced in English.

Requests must be submitted in writing in one of the following ways:

All requests should include:

  • The requesting organization's name, address, phone and fax numbers, and contact name.

  • The specific text to be reprinted, i.e., chapter, page number, and table number, if applicable.

  • Requested use for the material (e.g. book, website, presentation materials, staff education material), and whether the requester will be selling or making a profit from the material (e.g. selling a book, receiving an honorarium for a presentation).
